Intertrading

Inter-group trading
We now have
inter-trading agreements with Teifi Taf LETS (the West Wales group which covers Cardigan,
Newcastle Emlyn, Haverfordwest and Tenby), and South Powys LETS.
There is no commission
payable for inter-group trades, and members can trade with any member in
these groups just as if they were in the Aberystwyth group. The advantages
are that members have access to a wider range of goods and services; nobody
has to pay an additional fee; and increased contact between the systems is
healthy in itself (exchange of ideas, mutual support, and so on).
Of course we would
always encourage members to keep LETS local, and trade within their own group
wherever possible. But it might make sense for an Aber member living, say, in
Lampeter to use a Teifi Taf LETS plumber in Newcastle Emlyn rather than one
in Borth, which is further away!
How inter-trading works ...
If you want a service
which isn't available on Aber LETS, you can contact John to see if there's anyone offering that service in Teifi
Taf or South Powys. If there is, John will give you the seller's phone number
and you can contact them directly and arrange the trade in the normal way.
You can pay a Teifi Taf
or South Powys member in Rheidol for any goods or services you receive from
them, and (for trades in the opposite direction) any Teifi or Beacon
cheques you receive can be sent to the Aberystwyth LETS Accountant as usual.
(Your account will then be credited in Rheidol.)
